Poster Presentation MC03: Beam Position Monitors Wednesday Poster Session 3

Speaker

Lee Flader (Brookhaven National Laboratory)

Description

Button style beam position monitors (BPMs) will be used in all the beam lines of the future Electron Ion Collider (EIC). BPM buttons will be procured from multiple contractors, tested, and compared in a selection process to choose the best contractor and design. A validation strategy is required to ensure acceptable performance and quality control. While the designs of the pickups vary between the variety of EIC accelerators, their fundamental operating principles permit the standardization of a validation scheme for the subsystems. This paper describes the strategy that has been used to validate the BPM button designs of the Hadron Storage Ring (HSR), including the test flow, methods, and justification. This strategy will be modified for the validation of the BPM buttons in the Electron Storage Ring (ESR), Electron Injection System (EIN) which includes the Rapid Cycling Synchrotron (RCS).
