Description
The Cavity-Based X-ray Free-Electron Laser (CBXFEL) project, to be deployed in the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) Hard X-ray (HXR) undulator line, requires X-ray beam diagnostics to support alignment and optimization of the optical cavity. An instrumentation platform has been developed consisting of silicon and diamond X-ray Beam Intensity Monitors (XBIMs), signal-conditioning electronics with selectable raw and amplified signal paths, high-speed digitizers, accelerator timing interfaces, and EPICS-based controls. The system provides synchronized acquisition of XBIM signals at 120 Hz, enabling beam-synchronous intensity measurements for cavity alignment and commissioning. This paper describes the system architecture, including detector integration, signal conditioning, digitization, and synchronization. Results from machine development studies are presented, including commissioning of the detector and digitizer systems, beam-synchronous operation, and operational lessons learned.
