Description

At the present time, the activities on reconstruction of U400 to U400R cyclotron are carried out at the FLNR, JINR. The new multipurpose U400R cyclotron is intended for production of high intensity, up to 2.5 pmkA, beams of heavy ions from Helium to Uranium with mass to charge ratio A/Z= 4 - 12. The magnetic structure of the new cyclotron will provide a wide range of the magnetic field level from 0.82T till 1.82T what gives the smooth variation of accelerated beams energy 0.8 – 27 MeV/nucleon. For operational optimization of the magnetic field, the 11 radial and 2 pairs of harmonic correcting coils are used. The numerical formation of the magnetic field is carried out. The problems and solutions of U400R magnetic field design are described.
