Description

This paper presents a high-speed, high-precision system for measuring average beam current and lifetime, designed to overcome the limitation of low data refresh rates in existing systems, which fail to capture rapid beam dynamics. A comprehensive performance analysis identified key error sources, including the beam probe, data acquisition card, electromagnetic interference, and quantization noise. The system's performance was subsequently enhanced through optimization of the sampling frequency and signal processing algorithms. Experimental validation at the HLS demonstrated that with a 0.5 μA resolution probe, the system achieves a measurement accuracy better than 0.6 μA at a 1 Hz update rate and 2 μA at 100 Hz. This performance approaches the theoretical limit and ranks among the state of the art. The high-speed, high-precision current measurement capability fulfills the requirement for rapid and accurate lifetime determination. This system provides a critical tool for the real-time monitoring of injection efficiency and beam stability, and offers essential data support for detailed analysis of beam loss mechanisms and beam dynamics.
