Description
PAL-XFEL is a fourth-generation X-ray free-electron laser based on an RF photoinjector, linac, bunch compressors, and undulators. Since 2017, user service has been provided through the SX and HX1 beamlines, delivering electron energies up to 11 GeV. To expand capacity, a second hard X-ray beamline (HX2, 2–10 keV) is proposed, designed for 180–200 pC operation at 30 Hz during simultaneous HX1/HX2 use. The concept includes diverting the post-FEL beam to a dedicated HEP test area via a dipole–achromat line with optional energy collimation, enabling beam reuse without affecting photon users. The LINAC’26 conference provides an opportunity to present the current PAL-XFEL status and the planned HX2 beamline expansion, including the beam reuse concept.
