Description
Field emission and multipacting are phenomena that can limit the performance of superconducting radio frequency (SRF) cavities, decreasing the gradient that cavities can be operated at. Plasma processing has been proven successful in addressing hydrocarbon-related field emission and multipacting in several cavity geometries. The Commissariat Energie Atomique Saclay (CEA-Saclay), Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) and the Laboratorio di Acceleratori e Superconduttività Applicata (LASA) started investigating how to develop plasma processing for PIP-II 650MHz 5-cell low beta (LB650) cavities with the coupler configuration (FPC) for the cryomodule. Here, we present the initial findings and results obtained on a prototype cavity employed for our studies.
