Description
The drive beamline RF photoinjector at the Argonne Wakefield Accelerator test facility was recently upgraded with a new symmetrized RF photogun. Additionally, three new solenoid magnets were commissioned as replacement coils, with a goal of reducing the higher order field modes that adversely affect beam dynamics. We report here on efforts to map and characterize the fields of the magnets prior to installation, as well as field map and simulation informed alignment efforts during the initial commissioning of the upgraded photoinjector system.
