Description
Electron beam size measurements using the Heterodyne Near Field Speckles (HNFS) technique were successfully tested at the ALBA beamline BL11 "NCD-SWEET", which is mainly dedicated to hard X-rays scattering experiments. Inside the FCC collaboration and in order to enable convenient access to the HNFS technique for specific tests, a dedicated setup was installed at ALBA Front End 21, including a high energy (~25keV) and large bandwidth (~1.5%) multilayer monochromator to optimize the speckle pattern.
ALBA Front End 21 also includes an X-ray pinhole camera, which is currently in operation using the synchrotron light from a bending magnet. Both measurement techniques (pinhole and HNFS) can operate alternately to measure the electron beam size from the same source point, allowing for direct comparison between the two methods.
This paper presents the steps taken to install the dedicated HNFS instrumentation, along with initial measurements and a comparative analysis of both techniques.
