Description
The online model application “Beam ENvelope iNteractive Optimizer” (BENNO) is under development at GSI since a few years. It is now routinely used for setting up the high-energy beam transfer lines at GSI and to precisely adjust the focus and beam position onto the experimental targets. For these tasks, it allows to change comfortably the beam trajectory and beam envelope by mouse click and provides dedicated beam steering functions onto the target. It has been extended with a read out of beam position monitor measurements and an automated trajectory correction function, recently. This has been tested at the transfer line from SIS18 to ESR and compared with simulations. The goal is to use BENNO also as a beam commissioning tool for the FAIR transfer lines, where the new features could be very beneficial.
