Description
The Hefei Advanced Light Facility (HALF) is currently under construction. Its Phase I beamlines will incorporate 14 insertion devices, including six elliptically polarizing undulators, one helical undulator, one pure-permanent-magnet planar undulator, one hybrid planar undulator, three wigglers, and two in-vacuum undulators. To achieve the required magnetic field quality—given practical constraints such as non-ideal magnet magnetization and mechanical alignment errors—subsequent magnetic optimization is essential. This paper presents a virtual shimming method for field optimization, utilizing end-located "magic fingers" and fine adjustments of individual magnet positions.
