Description
SPARC_LAB is the facility at the National Laboratory in Frascati of the Italian Institute for Nuclear physics that hosts different experiments from Plasma acceleration studies to betatron X-ray user facilities, to polarized THz and MIR radiation.
For this contribution the focus will be on the last one and, in particular, on the sequence of operations required from the virtual design of the so-called SABINA project till its realization and implementation in an already existing infrastructure.
SABINA will make use of a high-brightness electron beam (30-100 MeV) from the SPARC_LAB linac driven through a dogleg section with three APPLE-X undulators. They will therefore provide a Free Electron Laser in the 10-100 THz spectral range with variable polarization that will reach the user area thanks to a dedicated transport line.
The sequence of installations, alignment procedures, integration with plant systems, and connection to control systems demands appropriate management decisions to coordinate the personnel from the various Services, the equipment needed for installation, and the commissioning activities. All tasks must be carried out smoothly, while minimizing interference with the ongoing operations of the accelerator and the existing experimental beamlines.
Funding Agency
SABINA is co-funded by Regione Lazio with the “Research infrastructures” public call within the POR-FESR 2014-2020 program.
