Description

Many accelerator control systems still rely on legacy EDM operator interface screens, which lack modern UI capabilities and long-term maintainability. Phoebus, the next-generation OPI framework of CS-Studio, provides enhanced visualization, widget flexibility, Java-based extensibility, and integration with modern EPICS V4/PVAccess infrastructures. This paper presents the methodology and practical workflow for converting a large set of EDM displays into Phoebus OPI screens at the Taiwan Photon Source (TPS). The migration includes widget mapping, automated batch conversion, color-rule translation, CSS structure adaptation, PV naming refactoring, and UI optimization. We also analyze performance improvements, operator feedback, and challenges encountered during the transition. The results demonstrate that the Phoebus environment significantly improves maintainability, readability, and system integration for future accelerator operations.
