Description
This paper shows a detailed simulation of the LANSCE 805 MHz CCL which is utilized at 100 MeV injection energy and accelerates the proton beam to 800 MeV prior to beam delivery. The CCL was installed and commissioned by 1972 and it has been in operation ever since. This simulation serves to compare modern computational tools with the original design calculations. The simulation is limited to the first module which is comprised of 2 accelerator tanks feed through the bridge coupler, and it is typically run with higher RF power values compared to the rest of the 44 accelerator modules. The calculations are used as a base line and then compared to Q measurement of the cavity to gain an understanding of the degradation in performance after 50 years in operation.
