Description
We present an enhanced tuning method for the 800-MeV side-coupled cavity linac (CCL) at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE). The method utilizes the High-Performance Simulator (HPSim) 6-D particle tracking code to reproduce time-of-flight measurements taken during CCL module phase scans. By fitting to the data, HPSim allows verification of the RF field amplitude and provides the longitudinal phase space of the output beam. We show the deviation of the RF amplitude from the nominal setpoint for each of the 44 CCL modules and the optimal RF phase setpoints based on bunching and capture quality.
