Description
The Insertion Devices and Magnets group at the ESRF has developed a strong expertise in the development and operation of in-vacuum Insertion Devices over the years. Since the start of ESRF-EBS operation, the group has been producing 5 new hybrid devices in the last 5 years, among which 4 are operated at cryogenic temperature. Additional 5 devices are planned for the coming years. This paper presents the manufacturing steps for magnetic field optimization, from the support modules assembly to the measurement at cold temperature. The method for field tuning using the shimming of the ferromagnetic poles, and the mitigation of technical issues encountered are detailed. The remaining limitation and the status of further on-going developments are introduced.
