Description
A substantial portion of insertion devices (IDs) from the existing SOLEIL storage ring will remain in use during the first stage of SOLEIL II upgrade project. Evaluating the impact of these IDs on the upgraded lattice is therefore essential to define the technical requirements of the SOLEIL II ID compensation scheme. In this paper, the closed orbit distortion, tune shift, beta-beating, and additional coupling induced by each type of reused ID are analysed to determine whether the feedback systems are sufficient or dedicated feedforward correction is required. For orbit correction, the appropriate choice between slow and fast orbit feedback is assessed. This preliminary evaluation provides the Power Supply Group with the required specifications of dipolar, normal, and skew quadrupolar corrector power supplies in terms of response speed.
