Description
In lepton colliders, the decay of transverse oscillations following an excitation is governed by both radiation damping and decoherence effects. Because decoherence strongly affects the observed amplitude envelope, the radiation damping time cannot be reliably extracted from it alone. A method is presented to determine the radiation damping time using an action-dependent observable, the amplitude detuning. As only the particle action is reduced by radiation damping, the evolution of amplitude detuning directly reflects the damping process, independent of decoherence. The method is validated through beam-based measurements at SuperKEKB and tracking simulations using the SuperKEKB and FCC-ee lattices.
