Description
The development of top-up operation in the SOLARIS storage ring is essential for achieving high beam stability and meeting the demands of beamlines’ users. As part of this effort, we investigate solutions inspired by the successful implementation of the Multipole Injection Kicker (MIK) at MAX IV, where the nonlinear-field device enabled nearly transparent injection and significantly reduced stored-beam perturbations during top-up. Combined with the planned upgrade of the SOLARIS linac to full-energy injection, this approach may enhance injection efficiency, allow more frequent top-ups, and minimize beam-size and orbit variations. This work presents initial beam-dynamics studies, hardware requirements, and possible integration scenarios for both MIK-based injection and the linac upgrade, together representing a major step towards top-up capabilities at SOLARIS.
Funding Agency
