Description
The TPS timing system has evolved from a conventional accelerator-trigger backbone into a versatile synchronization platform supporting accelerator operations, beamline control, and time-resolved experiments. Based on an event-driven architecture referenced to a highly stable RF master clock, the system delivers bucket addressing, top-up injection timing, and machine-synchronized beamline triggering. Recent upgrades—including DDS-based programmable delay generators, laser-synchronization modules, and RF/beam-phase diagnostics—now enable femtosecond-to-nanosecond control of X-ray/laser relative timing for pump-probe applications. Future developments will emphasize sub-picosecond clock-distribution techniques and standardized timing-support modules for beamlines, providing the precision, robustness, and flexibility needed to support increasingly demanding time-resolved experimental capabilities.
