Description
An accurate impedance budget is essential for predicting collective stability threshold and ensuring successful commissioning of the Hadron Storage Ring (HSR) in the EIC. Significant progress has been made in recent years toward building a complete impedance budget for the HSR. In the arcs, detailed analysis have been performed for beam screens, BPMs, and geometric transitions between vacuum chambers. Since each straight section (IR) hosts different subsystems, impedance calculations have also been carried out individually for all IRs. We used three electromagnetic codes; GdfidL, CST, and ECHO3D to obtain and cross-validate our simulated impedances.
This paper presents updated HSR impedance calculations and demonstrates how we optimize the engineering design of HSR vacuum components to minimize their overall impedance contribution.
