Description

The Shanghai High repetition rate XFEL and Extreme light facility (SHINE) is a new X-ray free-electron laser facility under construction in Shanghai. This paper outlines the preparation and commissioning plan to achieve first light in the FEL-II beamline. The commissioning will begin in July after the crycooling and testing of the superconducting cryomodules. Following this, the accelerator and FEL-II branch line will be commissioned using electron beams at around 4 GeV directed into the FEL-II undulator section, with the goal of achieving first lasing at approximately 200 eV. The main methods for first light commissioning are described, focusing on beam transport, orbit control, and optics matching to enable rapid and successful first FEL radiation.
