Description
Analysis of accelerator lattices often depends on text-based files and tabular outputs produced by design and simulation frameworks such as Xsuite. This can limit one’s ability to intuitively visualise the machine layout, an aspect that is especially important during the design phase. We introduce x3d*, a new interactive 3D visualisation tool for accelerator models that is fully compatible with data exported from the Xsuite framework. Built using the Godot engine, x3d loads Xsuite-output files and procedurally generates survey elements, beam envelopes, and physical aperture geometry. This enables users to explore the accelerator environment and inspect individual components within a responsive and customisable interface designed to integrate seamlessly with existing workflows. The tool supports the inspection of both optical quantities and physical geometry, including aperture constraints and the placement of lattice elements, with full handling of element transformations such as tilts, angles, and offsets. x3d is open source and under active development, with the aim of improving accessibility and clarity in lattice visualisation across research and scientific communication settings.
