Description
Longitudinal beam instability in the Hadron Storage Ring (HSR) is one of the concerns for the future Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), which will utilize the existing RHIC yellow ring with necessary upgrades. Previous measurements of longitudinal impedance in both RHIC rings using gold beams in 2014, based on potential well distortion extracted from Schottky spectra, revealed a surprising result: the yellow ring exhibited nearly four times higher impedance than the blue ring, despite their nominally identical designs. In this paper, we present new impedance measurements data obtained using the similar approach. Updated results and potential sources of the discrepancies between the two rings are discussed.
