Description
Elettra 2.0 will implement an injection scheme utilizing a combination of four kicker magnets and three septa. In the event of a kicker malfunction, it is essential to localize the beam losses to designated shielded regions or dedicated collimators to mitigate potential damage to other machine components. The malfunction of the first kicker magnet, in particular, poses a significant risk to the septum elements. This paper presents a comprehensive evaluation of the damage risk associated with such malfunctions and outlines the solutions adopted to ensure the protection of critical components within the accelerator system.
