Description

The Hefei Advanced Light Facility (HALF), which is being built as a diffraction-limited storage ring in the low-energy regime, faces performance challenges directly from instabilities associated with beam coupling impedance. This paper details a systematic impedance modeling study based on two computational campaigns that established the narrow-band and broad-band impedance budgets. The results allowed for the identification of key impedance sources and a detailed impact assessment, which in turn informed targeted measures to optimize the impedance and mitigate adverse effects. The resulting model paves the way for a comprehensive analysis of impedance-related beam dynamics for the HALF storage ring.
