Description
Longitudinal coupled-bunch instabilities (CBIs) driven by high-order modes (HOMs) present a potential challenge to beam stability in modern light sources. By macroparticle tracking simulations, we analyze the HOM impedance threshold across a range of parameters, including HOM frequency, strength, quality factor (Q), harmonic cavity bunch lengthening, radiation effects for the HALF storage ring, a 4th-generation synchrotron light source currently under construction. This study offers quantitative guidance for setting HOM impedance limits in the design of HALF vacuum components.
