Description

Recent measurements of the Loss of Landau Damping threshold in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) suggest that the current beam-coupling impedance model may underestimate the total longitudinal contribution. The measurements also indicate a lower cut-off frequency of the effective impedance. In preparation for the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) upgrade, a refined longitudinal impedance model is being developed by incorporating previously neglected broadband sources, such as injection kickers and vacuum components. The updated model provides a more accurate broadband impedance representation and new insights into the effective cut-off frequency, both essential for predicting beam stability limitations in the HL-LHC era.
