Description

In synchrotrons and storage rings, the longitudinal dynamics of bunched beams is crucial in understanding beam loss. A fast current transformer (FCT) can be used to monitor the longitudinal bunch distribution. We use consecutive FCT measurements to analyze the beam’s oscillations in the RF
bucket at the Experimental Storage Ring (ESR) at GSI. At varying amplitudes of oscillation, the tunes in the non-linear bucket are reconstructed and discussed.
