Description

The pulsed wire method is widely used for undulator characterization in Free Electron Laser (FEL) facilities, where accurate magnetic field mapping is essential for optimal beam trajectory and radiation output. In this study, we experimentally investigate the effect of wire length on pulse propagation in a 500-micron copper (25 swg) wire configuration. By systematically varying the wire length, we analyze pulse dispersion and its impact on pulse shape and signal distortion. These dispersive effects directly influence the measurement accuracy and spatial resolution in undulator field characterization. The experimental results demonstrate the relationship between wire length and pulse behavior, providing practical guidelines for optimizing pulsed wire measurement systems in undulator applications.
