Description
The TPS upgrade study (TPS-II) aims to realize an ultralow-emittance 6BA lattice compatible with the existing TPS tunnel and beamline constraints. This work presents an updated linear lattice design with a natural emittance of 67 pm-rad at 3 GeV, followed by an evaluation of its robustness under realistic machine errors. A nonlinear optimization strategy is introduced, in which weak sextupole fields are distributed at the dipole centers to mitigate amplitude-dependent tune shift (ADTS) while maintaining momentum acceptance and dynamic aperture. This method enhances tune stability without relying on harmonic multipoles and reduces optics complexity near insertion devices. The results indicate a feasible and operationally robust path toward the next phase of TPS-II lattice and engineering integration.
