Description

During the APS Upgrade project's dark time, the original storage ring was replaced with a brand new, state-of-the-art ring, and the accelerator controls system. Although the APS injector controls system remained unchanged, its storage ring controls has been fully redesigned with significant modernization. Together with other technical systems, the controls system was successfully brought back online in a timely manner, playing a crucial role in achieving a tightly scheduled transition from decommissioning to beam commissioning and restart the user beam operations within a year. This paper presents the latest status of the APS accelerator control systems with some highlights of the lessons learned during the upgrade period.
