Description

The Advanced Photon Source (APS) is a third-generation synchrotron light source at Argonne National Laboratory. The APS Upgrade (APS-U) storage ring power supply interlock and temperature monitoring system plays an important role for personal and equipment safety. The system utilizes the Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS) input/output controllers (IOCs) to interface with remote programmable
logic controllers (PLCs) for controlling the storage ring power supply interlock system and monitoring various equipment temperatures. This paper will present how the system is implemented and operating successfully.
