Description

The position-based continuous energy scanning system at MAX IV continues to evolve, delivering significantly faster and more consistent data acquisition for X-ray beamlines. Since its initial implementation on BioMAX, FlexPES, and FinEstBeAMS, the system has now been successfully deployed on three additional beamlines: SPECIES, HIPPIE, and NanoMAX. Integration efforts are also underway for SoftiMAX and MAXPEEM. A major recent advancement includes the implementation of non-linear motion trajectories for both APPLE-II and IVU undulators, supporting coupled-axis scanning in both soft and hard X-ray regimes. In addition to its native compatibility with Sardana/TANGO-based orchestration, the system now offers broader integration capabilities, allowing for seamless operation within alternative experimental control environments such as Contrast. These developments further underline the system’s modularity, flexibility, and potential to become a facility-wide standard for efficient, low-dose, and high-resolution scanning.
