Description

A thorough experimental as well as theoretical study of space charge compensation for transport of 50 keV proton beam in the Low Energy Beam Transport (LEBT) line from ion source to RFQ has been done for the 20 MeV Low Energy High Intensity Proton Accelerator (LEHIPA) at BARC. A novel particle monitor probe for fast plasma diagnostics has been used for space charge compensation investigations ( Pallavi Priyadarshini et al., Sci. Report (2026)] The proposed talk will describe the Monte Carlo simulations of the space charge compensation process, experimental studies to compare the theoretical predictions with experimental results and improvements in beam properties as a result of the space charge compensation.
