Description

KAERI Advanced Radiation Technology Institute (ARTI) has been operating an electron irradiation facility for industrial beam application research since 2018. The facility features a versatile suite of industrial electron accelerators, including 200 keV, 2.5 MeV, and 10 MeV systems. This presentation highlights the operational characteristics and application cases of the 2.5 MeV electron accelerator. Capable of delivering a high-output electron beam of 40 mA, this system provides high power efficiency and is highly advantageous for high-dose irradiation, facilitating a wide range of commercial material research. To expand capabilities beyond conventional conveyor-based irradiation, specialized end-station equipment has been developed and integrated. These include continuous irradiation systems designed for carbon fibers, films, and tubes, as well as an inert gas environment irradiation chamber. We will detail the technical specifications of these customized facilities and discuss recent advanced application studies enabled by the 2.5 MeV electron beam.
