Description
This paper discusses the upgrade plan for the sextupole magnet power supplies in storage rings. The plan is divided into two parts. The first part involves replacing the sextupole magnet power supply in cell 16 to cell 24 with an ultra-high precision power supply. The second part involves adding a spare power supply to each sextupole magnet power supply from cell 01 to cell 15, enabling quick backup support in case of a machine failure. This upgrade plan is scheduled to span three years, with completion expected by the end of 2028. The anticipated outcomes after completion are as follows:
1. The operational efficiency of the sextupole magnet power supplies in the storage ring will increase by 3.2%. Given that the TPS storage ring uses 168 units, this translates to a reduction of approximately 5 failures per year.
2. TPS beam trip occurrences will decrease by 3 to 4 times per year.
3. Annual user downtime will be reduced by 8 to 10 hours.
Finally, during the extended machine downtime in mid-2024, cell 22 was successfully upgraded as part of this project, with seven sextupole magnet power supplies upgraded.
